George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) is Houston’s international hub, north of the city with five terminals on one loop. Pick-ups are made at Terminal A baggage claim, Terminal C baggage claim and Terminal D international arrivals. Book with the flight number rather than a time: the arrival is tracked, so an early landing or a long taxi moves the chauffeur instead of costing you the car.

The drive out of IAH

Cars leave IAH on the Hardy Toll Road, I-45 and the Sam Houston Parkway, which is how Houston is reached from here. For a departure, the pick-up time is set backwards from the check-in desk rather than from the gate, and a chauffeur who knows which terminal you fly from saves the lap of the loop road that a map does not account for.

Corporate arrivals and departures make up most of the weekday traffic here — a car held between meetings, a client met at arrivals with a name board, or a straight run to a hotel. Groups arriving on one flight take a Sprinter or a bus so the party stays together and the luggage travels with it.
