Landing at SFB
Orlando Sanford International (SFB) is the other Orlando airport, north-east of the city, and it is a very different experience from MCO — smaller, faster to clear, and a great deal easier to be collected from. The chauffeur meets the flight at baggage claim, tracked against the flight number.
Leaving SFB
Cars leave SFB on SR-417, which runs south around the city and connects to I-4 for the attractions corridor. Downtown Orlando is roughly forty minutes, Lake Nona a little more, and the Disney and Universal hotels around an hour depending on the time of day. It is a longer run than from MCO, and it is planned as one rather than treated as a hop.
The work at SFB
Charter and low-cost carriers fill this airport, so the arrivals come in waves and a whole party lands at once. Sprinters and buses do most of the work. Business travellers use SFB for the north side of Orlando and for Sanford itself, where a sedan held for the day is the usual booking.
